Aaah….blogjune. I’ve already missed a day and the reason was….music.
By the time I got home from school yesterday and then went out to a rehearsal it was 9:45 and I was not in a blog post writing kind of mood.
I love rehearsals. More than performances. Last night was Bundaberg Sinfonietta which is a group of music teachers and advanced students. A string orchestra. We are tremendously fortunate to have a professional oboeist retired in town who is keen to make music with others and amazingly generous with his time. He conducts. We play some beautiful repertoire. Last night there was also a bag of lollies doing the rounds.
We have a concert next Friday night and we are playing a Mozart Divertimento, the Bruch Romanze for Viola and string orchestra, Variations on Londonderry Air by Frank Bridge and Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony (which isn’t actually that simple). The second movement is lots of fun and all pizzicato.
