Sometimes, I write about other things apart from shopping and cats July 16, 2009

I’m pretty sure I tweeted this but don’t think I linked to it here on Spiralling Shape. So here it is, a journal article that was nearly 2 years in appearing from the time of submission to online publication. Truly I can barely remember writing it, and can’t be bothered reading it again myself, but […]

What’s the difference between garlic and academia June 29, 2009

Nothing. At last my Refractory paper appears. It’s been almost two years since I sent the initial abstract. I am worried now that it’s a whole heap of crapola that I would never write now but hey….whatever. It’s still nice to see my name in print. Like garlic…all is vanity.

I finally finished all the APA punctuation twiddling, the quadruple checking of everything in sight, the last minute spell check, the constant reformatting of the table of contents and plucked up the courage to send the manuscript to the publisher. I am now convinced that I will have done something ridiculous, like spelled my name […]

"all our operators are busy at the moment" January 9, 2009

In spite of my very best efforts to procrastinate again today (coffee, morning tea, lunch, twitter, facebook, listening to the radio), there has been some progress in the “writing of the book from the thesis department”. (note: this is not a real government department, however it does exist for real in my mind. Although…..it is frequently […]
